How Often Should You Shampoo Your Weave Installation?

Updated: Aug 20, 2024

When it comes to wearing a weave, maintaining a clean and secure style is key. Here's what you need to know:

Cleansing Your Scalp:

The frequency of cleansing your scalp depends on your lifestyle. If you're active and spend a lot of time at the gym, aim to cleanse your scalp once a week. Generally, we recommend cleansing your scalp bi-weekly. After cleansing, sit under a dryer to ensure the braids underneath are thoroughly dried. To assist with this, Nadia Vassell Salon offers a product called Buildup Blocker, perfect for braids, weaves, and other protective hairstyles.

Tightening Your Weave:

To keep your weave looking fresh and to avoid unnecessary strain on your natural hair, we suggest tightening your weave every 4 to 6 weeks. This prevents your hair from hanging and pulling, which can cause damage.

Hair Treatments:

Don't forget about your leave-out hair! Treat it with our Hair Masque to keep it healthy and moisturized.
